HFRC Open Dressage Team win National Championships 2012!!

What a busy but truly wonderfully weekend we had at Lincoln, it took us three hours to get there but this paled into insignificance when we talked to someone from Ayrshire who had driven for 13 hours to get there over two days! The entries were massive; the novice show jumping started at 8.30am and they were still jumping the  second rounds at 6pm - goodness knows what time they finished the jump off!

Needless to say anyone that gets placed at the championships has done really well, so how proud was I when our OPEN DRESSAGE TEAM WON! Well done to Jo Tootal with Seal, Lucy Browning-Smith with Quintana Roo, Sarah Murphy with Lario, and Cher East with Don Marcus. Cher also WON in her arena, and Jo came 5th, Sarah came 10th, and Lucy 11th individually.

Sarah Motion and Jokers Friend came 9th in the medium dressage

Our team of four dressage (four horses all in the arena together) came 4th: this was Jo Tootal, Cher East, Sarah Murphy and Sarah Motion,  with Ann Williams who did a outstanding job of calling the test for the team.

Cher East, this time on Vanir Romiro, came 4th in the novice dressage.

The Open Show jumping team - Vicki-May Northover with Cooley Angel, Cher East with Vanir Ramiro, Lucy Browning-Smith with Quintana Roo and Zara Thain with Goodman Friday - came 5th, and Zara`s wonderful little man jumped three clear rounds and was placed 4th individual. I was lucky enough to see him do his jump off; bless him, the jumps were nearly bigger than him (14.2hh)

We also qualified a style jumping team - Louise Goodwin with Max, Mel Howard with Frosty, Denise Allcock with Nip Tuck and me with Fizz; we came 7th and Mel came 5th individually.

I would also like to say a big thank you to Cher, Michaela Clements Downes and my Hubby Dave who came along with me and spent Friday afternoon putting up the show jumping courses, and to Mary Thorley and Gloria who gave up their time to judge on Saturday so that all the teams could compete.

Well done every one, I hope you all had as good a time as we did, it was a great weekend in great company and I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the AGM!

Area 14 Eventer Trial

High Fen had a fantastic day at Geldeston Hall on 14 April; our Area 14 novice team with Louise Clover, Emily Clover and Penny Baker did extremely well (without the help of my useless horse!) and came second. Zara Thain came 2nd and Liz Brown came 7th individual in the qualifying team, though unfortunately the team was not placed as Vicki-May and Denise did a bit of a take your own line across country; I think Nip Tuck should have won for jumping a open fence from the wrong direction uphill! it obviously did not worry her as Zara and Denise stormed round the pairs class and won it in fine style,

Hayley Crozier came 5th individual in the open and our open qualifying team Mel Howard Lou Orr, Louise Clover and Tanya Mitchell won their class with Louise Clover winning the class overall, so we are off to the championships once again.

Let’s hope the combined training team can do as well next week!

Area 14 Combined Training

High Fen had a excellent day at Thorne Court combined training qualifier on 21 April when our team came 1st out of nine teams to qualify for the championship at Aston le Walls. The qualifying team was Penny Baker, Maureen Mack, Debra Harrington and Jenny Pitman; we also had an area team with Louise Clover, Emily Clover, Rose Brown and Zara Thain who unfortunately on the occasion were not placed but I think they all enjoyed their day out as the weather was lovely as was the going, and although it was a long day it was very social.

What a fantastic club we have of the four qualifiers we have entered in the last two weekends we have won three of them, and I am looking forward to another party weekend at Aston le Walls.

Area 14 Dressage Qualifier

High Fen members competed at the Area 14 dressage qualifier on Sunday 12 May at Stratford Hills, Stratford St. Mary.

Many thanks to Deben R.C., and especially to Jill Hilliard for all their hard work in organising an enjoyable day.

Many congratulations go to our winning riding test team of Jo Tootal, Holly Latham, Cher East and Maureen Mack. This means they qualify for the R.C National Championships at Lincoln in September.

Sarah Motion and The Jokers Friend were successful in winning the Medium 69 so they will also be competing at the Championships.

We put forward two open dressage teams, one qualifier and one area.

The qualifying team were Carol Flower, Holly Latham, Cher East and Maureen Mack. They narrowly missed the win and were placed second.

The area team of Rose Brown, Debra Harrington, Zena Faalkener and Jo Tootal, achieved  good scores but unfortunately were unplaced.

Two teams competed in the novice section in which all ride a prelim test.

The qualifying team of Charlotte Lucas, Cher East, Jenny Pitman and Holly Latham were placed 5th and the area team of Mel Howard, Dora Nichols, Louise Goodwin and Nikola Penny were placed 4th.

Many of our riders also achieved individual places in their arenas.

Cher and Nikola also competed in the Novice Freestyle to Music and were 3rd and 4th respectively. This was Nikola's first time competing in music, so very well done to her.

Well done everybody and best of luck to all who have qualified.
