BRC Championships at Lincoln, September 2013

High Fen had qualified a riding test team, and Sarah Motion had qualified for the medium dressage for the Riding Clubs’ Championships at Lincoln. The team was Cher East, Holly Latham, Jo Tootal and me; Cher also qualified for the novice dressage.

We all arrived at Lincoln on Friday afternoon, settled the horses in their stables and got down to the serious business of drinking and being the nosiest club on site, ably helped by Cher and her wasp swatting skills.

First up on Saturday morning was Cher doing her novice dressage and as ever Vinnie put his best hoof forward and came 2nd; Sarah’s horse Joker’s Friend was in real party mood so sadly he was not in the rosettes this year; the riding test team all went well and were placed 3rd, with Cher being placed 1st in her arena. We then went and did our ‘team of four’ dressage, which I have to say was fantastic; the horses were all brilliant, and a big thank you goes to Ann Williams for all her help in the weeks before Lincoln and who fought her way there through endless traffic jams to do the calling for us – and to her friend who drove down from Leeds to paint hoofs and film us! The team came 2nd, so we really have to do this again next year! It was great fun, and the team would also like to thank Gloria for organizing the training sessions, putting in the entries for us, and for being our team volunteer.

Area 14 Winter Team Dressage and Championship Qualifier, Sunday 1st December 2013

High Fen entered three teams at the Winter Dressage held at Broads Equestrian Centre, Barnby, and had a very successful day.

One of our two teams in the Championship qualifier did extremely well by winning the competition, so many congratulations to them. The team was our Chairman Maureen Mack with Landmarks Fair Rhythm, Irene Ridler with Manaco Myth, April Griffiths riding Cher East's Frog and Jo Kirk with Beckenbeaur de Roulard.

They will be making their way to Hartpury for the Winter Championships at the end of March 2014.

Our second qualifying team was placed overall 3rd. The team consisted of long-standing team members Jo Tootal with Seal and Carol Flower with Boccaccio, Denise Lawry with Nip Tuck and Tanya Mitchell with Jack. Jack was very kindly loaned to us by new member Shani Redgrave.

Our Area Team excelled too, by winning the area competition.

Heading the high scores were Holly Latham with Arnhem with a score of 70% making them the individual winners. Jennie Pitman was placed 3rd with Glengraig, and Sam Overton with White Star was 6th. Cher very kindly loaned us her lovely horse Don Marcus for April Griffiths to ride to complete the team.

Thank you to all riders, horses, owners and supporters for such a memorable day.
