Area 14 Combined Training, Sunday 29th May 2011
The High Fen girls had a successful day at the Area competition with the team coming second.
The team: Kerry Lynch and Kevin achieved a personal best in the dressage scoring 68.3% and also jumped a clear round. Tanya Mitchell and Wexford Imp did a lovely test and achieved overall 1st place and needless to say she was very pleased. Third team member Emily Clover completed the team and rode two horses, her own " Maltraves " and Duncan Lougee's " Maximum Comfort ". Both horses did secure tests and jumped well.
Many thanks to Worlington R.C for hosting this event at their show ground at Fordham, near Newmarket, and, of course, to the High Fen team members, their helpers and supporters.

One Day Event Teams at Poplar Park, Sunday 12th June 2011
The novice teams did very well at Poplar Park - after the stress of the dressage, everyone show jumped either clear or with just four faults, and all seven horses went clear across country. The qualifier team Louise and Emily Clover, Denise Allcock and Sara Harrison-Osborne came 3rd with Emily Clover coming 6th individually on her lovely golden dun horse Maltravers. The area 14 team came 4th, which was a real achievement as Vicki-May Northover, Lucy Browning-Smith and Karen Board where all riding 5 or 6 year old horses.
Lucy Browning-Smith on Quintana Roo and Rebecca Baker on Captain Jack both had a brilliant day, winning the Intermediate and Open sections respectively. Both have qualified for the horse trials Championships at Aston le Walls in August. Congratulations and best wishes for Aston to them both, as well as to the Novice team who came 3rd.
Many thanks to all our team riders - looking forward to next year!

Area 14 Dressage and Riding Test at Trinity Park, Sunday 26th June 2011
Lovely weather and perfect going made for a good start to the day at Trinity Park where twelve High Fen members competed at the Area 14 Dressage and Riding Test qualifiers.
In the Riding Test Kerry Lynch, Romany Foster, Jo Tootal and Alison Braithwaite were our team. Many congratulations to them for winning the competition.
We put forward two teams for the Novice Dressage in which all rode Prelim 12.
Team HF Robins: Romany Foster, Elisabeth Clay, Margaret Nicholas and Sally Hayes all did secure tests. Elisabeth won in her arena and was thrilled but unfortunately the team were unplaced.
The second team HF Wrens: Tanya Mitchell,Tina Winger, Alison Braithwaite and Vicki-May Northover, were entered for the qualifier and were very worthy winners.
We had two Open teams - the HF Swifts were: Kerry Lynch, Cher East, Vicki-May Northover and Tina Winger. These were such lovely horses and all performed consistently high-scoring tests but unfortunately this day team finished unplaced .
The HF Swallows were our Open qualifier team: Sarah Murphy, Jo Tootal, Maureen Mack and Fiona Gordon - Clarke. They came a very close 2nd to the winners Colne Valley.
Many congratulations to Sarah and Lario for winning in their arena.
Dressage to music is becoming very popular and I’m proud to say High Fen had five riders competing; Jo Tootal, Tina Winger, Margaret Nicholas, Fiona Gordon-Clarke and Sally Hayes, and it was so lovely to see good results from all riders, Jo 2nd, Fiona 3rd, and Tina 4th.
Many thanks to all horses and riders for excellent results, also to the support team.
Well done to Jill Hiliyard and the Deben RC for another successful year of running this competition.

Area 14 and Championship Qualifier Show Jumping competition, Sunday 31st July
Well done to all the team members who competed in yesterday’s Area 14 and Championship Qualifier Show Jumping competition at Geldeston Hall yesterday. It was hot and sunny but luckily with a breeze in the afternoon.
The intermediate team came 3rd with a couple of unlucky poles down in the second round. The team consisted of Vicky-May Northover on Cooley Angel, Denise Allcock on Nip n Tuck, Tanya Mitchell on Wexford Imp and Rebecca Riches on Irco Dakar
A BIG well done to Rebecca Riches who jumped 3 impeccable rounds with a zero score and has qualified as an individual to compete at the National Championships at Lincoln in September.
Not to forget our novice team: Vicky-May Northover on Lavally Dubh, Maureen Mack on Landmarks Fair Rhythm and Julia O'Brien on Little Vegas. They all jumped really well in the first round but due to a fence being missed out on course our rider was eliminated. As we only had a team of 3 - unfortunately this meant the whole team. Had we had a 4th team member we could have dropped the eliminated score. However all 3 were able to jump in the second round as individuals and get good practise.
Filling the novice team was particularly difficult this year and it is always a shame to have 3 in a team as we do not have a discard score. It was nice however to have some new names and faces competing for the club.

High Fen Eventer Trial Teams 10th April 2011
High Fen entered three teams for the Area 14 Eventer Trial at Thorne court. I arrived there at 8.45am and walked the course with the open team, then gave everybody a hand to warm up.
Our team of Paula Holland, Rebecca Riches, Cher East and Biddy Brasted-Watts came 2nd with some interesting cross country time keeping! Rebecca went really well with her horse deciding to bounce the double and coming home clear, but was given time faults, moving her into 2nd place individually; on the other hand Biddy was given 4 faults for going too fast!
Sara Harrison-Osborne and Denise Allcock did really well in the Pairs competition and came 2nd.
The qualifying novice team came 6th with Sara having the best score of the competition to win, qualifying for the Championships as an individual, and our area team came 7th with Emily and Louise coming 3rd and 4th individually.
A big thank you to everybody who put themselves forward for the teams, looking forward to the One Day Event at Poplar Park

High Fen Indoor Show Jumping and Area 14 qualifier - February 2011
Our Team The High Fen Pirates was made up of Nikki Bennett on Razzamactazz, Vicky-May Northover on Lavally Dubh, Tanya Mitchell on Wexford Imp and Victoria Littlewood on Moss Town Marz. We were drawn to jump second out of 10 teams and the warm up area was very busy. First to jump was Nikki who went clear, Vicky-May was second to go and Lavally Dubh very unluckily had one pole down, Tanya and Victoria then jumped clear. We went into the second round in a strong position as only 2 clubs had clear rounds from all team members. In the second round Nikki and Tanya jumped double clear, Lavally Dubh ended with 8 faults and Moss Town Marz had 4 faults. The poles were also falling for the other teams so it was a tense wait to see how we had done. We came 4th in the Area and 5th in the Qualifyer which everyone was very pleased with. Everyone did a great job and it was a lovely team. Well done everyone and thank you again.

Lincoln Riding Clubs’ Championships, September 2011
On behalf of the committee I would like to say a very big thank you to all the members and supporters who made the journey to Lincoln at the weekend to represent High Fen at the Riding Clubs National Championships. Our riders achieved this by winning at the area qualifiers.
The Riding Test Team were: Alison Braithwaite, Jo Tootal, Kerry Lynch and Rebecca Riches who all achieved good percentages. The team were unplaced but Jo was individual 9th.
The Novice Dressage Team were: Alison Braithwaite, Kerry Lynch, Tanya Mitchell and Rebecca Riches. Again all did creditable tests but were not placed.
Three members qualified as individuals.
Sarah Murphy was placed 4th in the Novice 24 and Maureen Mack was placed 3rd in Novice 34 on her home bred Landmark Fair Rhythm.
Rebecca qualified in the intermediate show jumping. She had a clear 1st round but unfortunately had one stop in the 2nd which was a pity as he is a super jumping horse.
As you see she had a very busy day and we are most grateful to her!
