BRC Championships at Lincoln, September 2013
High Fen had qualified a riding test team, and Sarah Motion had qualified for the medium dressage for the Riding Clubs’ Championships at Lincoln. The team was Cher East, Holly Latham, Jo Tootal and me; Cher also qualified for the novice dressage.
We all arrived at Lincoln on Friday afternoon, settled the horses in their stables and got down to the serious business of drinking and being the nosiest club on site, ably helped by Cher and her wasp swatting skills.
First up on Saturday morning was Cher doing her novice dressage and as ever Vinnie put his best hoof forward and came 2nd; Sarah’s horse Joker’s Friend was in real party mood so sadly he was not in the rosettes this year; the riding test team all went well and were placed 3rd, with Cher being placed 1st in her arena. We then went and did our ‘team of four’ dressage, which I have to say was fantastic; the horses were all brilliant, and a big thank you goes to Ann Williams for all her help in the weeks before Lincoln and who fought her way there through endless traffic jams to do the calling for us – and to her friend who drove down from Leeds to paint hoofs and film us! The team came 2nd, so we really have to do this again next year! It was great fun, and the team would also like to thank Gloria for organizing the training sessions, putting in the entries for us, and for being our team volunteer.

Riding Test Team
Area 14 Dressage and Championship Qualifier at Stratford Hills on Sunday 6th July
Many thanks to all members who represented High Fen at the above event.
We had good response for this and entered two Riding Test teams and six Dressage teams.
We were the only club to put forward riders for the Pairs and Medium tests.
Sadly this year our teams did not make it to the winners enclosure but the Riding Test team of Joy Carman, Holly Latham, April Griffiths and Jo Tootal came a very close second.
The open dressage team, "The Swallows", which were April Griffiths, Emily Clover, Jo Tootal & Maureen Mack were placed fifth in the qualifier.
Our sponsor Fiona Gordon-
Maureen Mack and Fizz were our other partnership to compete in the Medium and were a very close second to Fiona.
Another member to ride to Music was Tina Winger and Thymley Opposition; they rode the Novice test and also won their class. Well done Tina !
Finally April and Fiona riding Frog and Mulberry competed in the pairs and did a beautiful test to win the class.
With thanks to all riders and supporters -
