BRC Championships at Lincoln, September 2013
High Fen had qualified a riding test team, and Sarah Motion had qualified for the medium dressage for the Riding Clubs’ Championships at Lincoln. The team was Cher East, Holly Latham, Jo Tootal and me; Cher also qualified for the novice dressage.
We all arrived at Lincoln on Friday afternoon, settled the horses in their stables and got down to the serious business of drinking and being the nosiest club on site, ably helped by Cher and her wasp swatting skills.
First up on Saturday morning was Cher doing her novice dressage and as ever Vinnie put his best hoof forward and came 2nd; Sarah’s horse Joker’s Friend was in real party mood so sadly he was not in the rosettes this year; the riding test team all went well and were placed 3rd, with Cher being placed 1st in her arena. We then went and did our ‘team of four’ dressage, which I have to say was fantastic; the horses were all brilliant, and a big thank you goes to Ann Williams for all her help in the weeks before Lincoln and who fought her way there through endless traffic jams to do the calling for us – and to her friend who drove down from Leeds to paint hoofs and film us! The team came 2nd, so we really have to do this again next year! It was great fun, and the team would also like to thank Gloria for organizing the training sessions, putting in the entries for us, and for being our team volunteer.

Area 14 Winter Novice and Intermediate Dressage on 30th November 2014
Halesworth RC were the hosts for this competition and I would like to thank them on behalf of High Fen for all their hard work, which resulted in an very well run and enjoyable day.
Seven riders represented High Fen in the two competitions.
The Novice team were Vicki May Northover -
The Intermediate dressage followed and is a new competition this year for R.C members, with the championships at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire.
The team is made up of four riders; one rides a Prelim test, two ride different Novice tests and one rides Elementary.
Kelly Greaves and Fenton’s Flint were first to go in this team and produced a stunning test to come first in the Prelim.
Next to go was Hannah Pearl riding Alanis Van Der Sar, and they rode an accurate and fluent Nov 28 test to come 3rd.
Holly Latham and Arnhem followed riding Nov 34 and excelled to win the class.
The competition was now getting exciting with just Carol Flower with Boccaccio to go in Elem 42. All went well and they were placed 4th.
Things were very tense at this point as we were tying for 1st place with another team. Fortunately it had to be decided on the collective marks and our High Fen team were declared the winners by 2 marks.
Well done everyone and thank you for your support.
on behalf of all at High Fen
